My Profile
I'm a writer striving to take Integral approaches to issues in ordinary life, culture, politics, and spirituality.
My books and screenplay look at the intersection of individual belief and cultural values. The book Soulfully Gay: How Harvard, Sex, Drugs, and Integral Philosophy Drove Me Crazy and Brought Me Back to God traces the story of my personal development and links it to the transpersonal development of consciousness. Rising Up: Reflections on Gay Culture, Politics, Spirit looks at contemporary affairs through the lense of a "theory of everything". The screenplay Soulfully Gay explores the profound dilemmas posed by spiritual self-discovery in our world. I am currently blogging on a near daily basis via Until, a look at Integral spirituality in real life. My earliest blogs, The Soulful Blogger and Rising Up, are both now defunct. I am the founder of the Gay Spirituality & Culture Weblog, now called the MyOutSpirit.com Gay Spirituality Weblog. My approach to faith is rooted in my experience of life, death, and resurrection in the spirit of Christ ... and open to truth wherever it is found. Other Endeavours In 2003, I provided stewardship for the emergence of a new global culture tradition called Bridge of Light. This is a winter holiday based on an Integral intellectual framework and intended to celebrate the uniqueness and dignity of all human beings. In its current incarnation, the celebration is called Spirit Day. My freelance writings have appeared in OpEdNews.com, Contax Guide, The Weekly News, Bay Windows, Seattle Gay News, Utah Desert News, Texas Triangle, San Diego Update, and other publications. These writings include a column called "Soulfully Gay," which is currently on hiatus. Additional Background An important aspect of my work over the years includes professional communications services for individuals and businesses. I earned a A.B. with Honors in the Comparative Study of Religion with Philosophy as Allied Field at Harvard University. Additionally, I have studied psychology and sociology of religion at The Divinity School at The University of Chicago, completing all the requirements for the M.A. in Divinity except for a German language exam. In more recent years, I have studied Screenwriting at the Seattle Film Institute. For more, see my profile Wolfspirit @ Zaadz.
